ital Patel's mantra is simple: seize every opportunity that comes his way. As managing partner of NewcrestImage, a Dallas-based commercial real estate investment firm with a $2.7 billion hospitality portfolio, this philosophy drives growth and expansion. But Patel's vision extends far beyond the boardroom. He's also an acclaimed wildlife photographer, using his camera to raise awareness about Africa's most endangered species.
This Friday, Patel's fine art photography will debut at the Christopher Martin Gallery in Dallas' Design District. The collection features intimate portraits of the world's last two northern white rhinos and their caregivers, with all sales benefiting the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, a 90,000-acre wildlife reserve in Kenya. We asked Patel about capturing the perfect wildlife image – he credits patience, instinct, and a willingness to take risks.
Patel's goal is to convey the connection between humans and wildlife. A gallery setting allows viewers to focus on details like expression and texture, evoking an emotional response. His passion for photography began at age 12, when his father gave him his first camera. Travel has deepened this love, connecting Patel's profession with his personal interests.
Patel's family business has a long history in the hospitality industry, with NewcrestImage's real estate portfolio including 277 hotel transactions valued at $2.7 billion. The firm recently acquired The Beeman Hotel, which will be rebranded as The Mockingbird. Patel's love of photography extends to his personal life – he's converted his formal dining room into a gallery showcasing his work.
Patel's pursuit of beauty is matched by his commitment to giving back. His support of the Ol Pejeta Conservancy reflects a broader effort to align his photography with organizations dedicated to conservation and social impact. Special guest Justin Heath, CEO of the conservancy, will join Patel at this week's event, which also marks the debut of Tembo, a fusion of wearable art and wildlife photography featuring a special edition rhino cap supporting Ol Pejeta's mission.
RSVP here to meet Mital Patel and Justin Heath on Friday, May 30, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Christopher Martin Gallery in Dallas.
