Dallas Shooting Suspect Posts Bond After Downtown Incident

Kendrick Finch accused of shooting, killing Houston-area real estate agent Ashlee Long in Downtown Dallas.

A
man charged with the murder of a Houston-area real estate agent in a Downtown Dallas shootout has been released on bond. Kendrick Finch, 34, posted $500,000 bond and was freed from the Dallas County Jail on May 13. A judge had previously denied an attempt by his lawyers to reduce the bond amount.

Finch is accused of shooting Ashlee Long, 28, in a confrontation that unfolded after she left a downtown bar with friends on April 5. Surveillance footage shows Finch exiting a Mercedes-Benz and opening fire on Long and her companion, William Kistler. Long died at the hospital from her injuries.

Finch has a prior record, including convictions for drug charges and burglary. He turned himself in to police on April 18 after Long's family used social media to raise awareness about the shooting.

Long was visiting Dallas from the Richmond-Rosenberg area of Southwest Houston, where she worked as a real estate agent. She graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Business Administration in 2019 and was engaged to be married at the time of her death. Her family remembers her as a driven professional who also had a bright personality.

Kistler, Long's companion, is currently being held in the Collin County Jail on charges related to the shooting, including unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
