Dawson's Creek" Set Home to Be Auctioned

Wilmington, North Carolina setting of teen drama classic up for auction with surprising twist.

A
piece of TV history is up for grabs, but be warned: you'll have to take the house with its Wilmington, North Carolina property. The three-bedroom, four-bathroom home that served as the setting for "Dawson's Creek" is on auction for under $30,000.

The catch? You'll need to relocate the house from the 2.39-acre property it currently sits on. Luther Bros Auction LLC is handling the sale of the property, which was once the residence of Katie Holmes' character Joey Potter. The show, which launched the careers of Holmes, James Van Der Beek, and Michelle Williams, among others, is credited with kickstarting a wave of teen-centered TV shows.

The home's appearance remains largely unchanged from its "Dawson's Creek" days, with only minor upgrades. Auctioneer Chris Luther notes that the task of relocating the house is outside his usual expertise. The auction ends on March 21, and buyers must pay cash and move the home within 30 days.

The property's owner, who has a family member living elsewhere on the property, hopes to sell the house quickly. The waterfront property itself is valued at $854,000, but the two buildings on the site are worth a combined $1.16 million. Luther reports "pretty good" interest in the auction so far, with three open houses remaining.

The home has been moved before, and Luther suggests it could be repurposed as an Airbnb or relocated to a new lot for residential use. With three bids already placed, the initial price of $25,000 has risen to $29,000.
