T
he Department of Government Efficiency has identified six Delaware locations for closure as part of its initial real estate cuts. These include three Defense or Secret Service offices in Rehoboth Beach and two Secret Service and one DoD location in Wilmington. The Rehoboth office's reduced need stems from the former President's departure, as it was a frequent weekend destination during his term. The three Rehoboth locations had an annual lease of $585,275, while the Wilmington sites cost $528,160 and $249,975 per year, respectively.
The six locations accounted for $1,452,600 in spending. As of February 26, 2025, DOGE estimated savings of $65 billion from various measures, including fraud detection, contract cancellations, asset sales, workforce reductions, and regulatory changes. However, the Associated Press has not independently verified this figure. DOGE plans to update its website twice a week until it reaches real-time efficiency tracking.
