Door County's Property Value Surpasses $13.5 Billion Mark

Annual Report: Door County Real Estate Values Rise

e report annually on Door County's real estate values and last year's story highlighted a significant increase of over $2.2 billion in 2022, surpassing the previous year's growth of more than $1.5 billion. This year, however, we see a slower but still substantial growth of around $1.2 billion from 2023 to 2024.

    The numbers come from the state's annual Equalized Values Report, released by the Department of Revenue in August each year. The effective date for these values is always between Aug. 15 of the current year and Aug. 14 of the next year. For this year (Aug. 15, 2024 – Aug. 14, 2025), all Door County taxable real estate was valued at $13,533,289,200, a 9.8% increase from last year's value of $12,318,310,300.

    Equalized values reflect the market value of all taxable property, including residential, commercial, and agricultural properties. This differs from assessed values, which are estimated by an assessor and used by municipalities to determine property taxes. The state uses equalized values to ensure a consistent standard for estimating taxable values across municipalities.
