Doral Downtown expansion anchored by UHealth, new Charleston BBQ in Little River

University of Miami Health System Expands to Downtown Doral with New Medical Outpost.

he University of Miami Health System is expanding its medical care outposts to Downtown Doral. UHealth has leased 11,200 square feet at the intersection of Northwest 87th Avenue and Northwest 53rd Terrace in Doral. The health care outpost will offer eye care by Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and physical therapy services, including pelvic floor rehabilitation and hand therapy.

    The new outpost is part of a larger development project led by Codina Partners, which plans to add a 25,000-square-foot retail wing to the Downtown Doral complex. Construction on the retail wing is expected to start this quarter and be completed in the first quarter of next year.

    Rodney Scott's Whole Hog BBQ will open its first Florida outpost in Miami's Little River neighborhood. The restaurant leased 3,700 square feet at 7100 North Miami Avenue and is expected to open this year. The barbecue spot is a concept by Pihakis Restaurant Group and has outposts in Charleston, Atlanta, and Nashville.

    Gregory Galy's Riviera Dining Group will open a new French-Mediterranean restaurant called Claudie in Brickell. The restaurant signed a 20-year lease for 9,400 square feet at 1101 Brickell Avenue and is set to open on February 7. Chef Michaël Michaelidis, who has contributed to 26 Michelin stars, will lead the kitchen.

    Goat Hospitality Group opened LunaSol restaurant and lounge in Miami's Wynwood neighborhood. The restaurant leased 5,000 square feet at 158 Northwest 24th Street and features a menu created by James Beard award winner Donatella Arpaia.
