arin Tansey, a 50‑year‑old Douglas Elliman agent who had built a nearly two‑decade career in Miami Beach, died Tuesday morning. The former Iowa native was found in his Ritz‑Carlton Residences condo; the cause of death remains undisclosed. Over his career he closed more than $3 billion in luxury sales, including the Ritz‑Carlton Residences, the planned Edition Residences in Edgewater, Regency Development Group’s La Maré in Bay Harbor Islands, and Villa 17 in Miami Beach.

    The news sparked an outpouring of tributes. Douglas Elliman Florida CEO Jay Parker called Tansey a “brother” and praised his integrity, professionalism, and unwavering loyalty. Michael Liebowitz, Elliman CEO, recalled meeting Tansey 15 years ago when he brokered Liebowitz’s first Miami home, and said Tansey’s unique contribution to the firm was irreplaceable. Agent Chris Wands described him as “the most selfless person” in the business, noting that Tansey had given him his first real‑estate job. Corcoran’s Julian Johnston, who worked with Tansey at Calibre International Realty, called him “one of the most honorable guys” and highlighted his success on the Ritz‑Carlton project. BHHS EWM Realty’s Nelson Gonzalez called the loss a “gut punch,” affirming Tansey’s reputation as a good guy. Publicist Ashley Holland remembered him as a respected force whose infectious energy and genuine care made everyone feel valued.

    Tansey is survived by extended family and his dog, Vino. No funeral arrangements have been announced.
