Eagles QB Jalen Hurts' modest $2,000/month rental amidst $255M contract

Despite a multimillion-dollar contract, Eagles QB lives modestly near home.

P
hiladelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is defying the conventional wisdom of NFL superstardom. Despite becoming the league's highest-paid player in 2023 with a $255 million contract, he's opted for a humble abode over a lavish mansion.

Hurts currently resides in a modest rental apartment in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, just a short drive from Philadelphia. His decision to rent rather than buy was made clear when he was drafted in 2020: simplicity was key. "I didn't need this big place just for myself," he said in a 2021 interview.

While his peers might splurge on opulent homes, Hurts has taken a more measured approach. He's invested in real estate, but not for himself – at least, not yet. Instead, he purchased a $215,000 home in Humble, Texas, where he grew up, and put it under his father's name.

Hurts' priorities are evident: family comes first. His decision to buy a home for his parents reflects his commitment to those who matter most. Even when he did eventually invest in real estate for himself, it wasn't in Philadelphia – a rare choice for an athlete of his stature.
