E
au Claire's former Sacred Heart Hospital is being considered by Blugold Real Estate for potential purchase. The building has been vacant since March when the hospital closed. According to Curt Krizan, executive director of Blugold Real Estate, "We were invited to consider purchasing the site and our Board of Directors is conducting due diligence. If we acquire the building, we'll share more details at that time."
The future use of the former hospital remains uncertain, as does the purchase price and timeline for the sale. As a subsidiary of the UW-Eau Claire Foundation, Blugold Real Estate's decisions are guided by benefiting the university, but it doesn't necessarily mean the property will become university-owned.
Blugold Real Estate has been involved in various projects, including purchasing The Priory to house The Children's Nature Academy and donating land for the County Materials Complex. They also own part of the Aspenson Mogenson Apartments on Water Street, which houses 201 UW-Eau Claire students.
