evin Delk is selling his Capitol Hill real estate, citing a desire to spend more time with his wife in New York City. The owner of Bang Up to the Elephant, a vegan Caribbean spot, is asking $3 million for the property's real estate, but has no intention of closing the restaurant. In fact, Bang Up is expanding its offerings at 1310 N. Pearl St., including a brunch menu and cocktail bar called Sea Maiden.
Delk previously attempted to sell the restaurant in 2022, but was unsuccessful due to opportunistic buyers. This time around, he's hoping to find a legitimate investor who will take over his landlord responsibilities. He believes having an established tenant is an attractive selling point.
If the sale doesn't go through, Delk plans to relocate to New York permanently and focus on managing Bang Up remotely. He'd eventually turn the restaurant over to its employees, possibly giving them shares with dividends. In this scenario, he'd be open to letting staff take creative control of the space, as long as it's thoughtful and original.
Delk is also looking to pursue other passions, including puppetry and writing horror and thriller novels. He'll remain semi-involved in the restaurant world through consulting clients across the East Coast and Midwest. The listing process has generated interest from potential buyers, with many drawn to the property's prime location on Capitol Hill.
