illionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has been working to unite his children and their mothers under one roof, but his plans have hit several roadblocks. At the center of his family compound is a 14,400-square-foot villa in Austin, Texas, valued at $35 million when combined with a six-bedroom mansion behind it. The property's cost was estimated after Musk previously claimed he didn't own a home and described the setup as "secret".
Musk's plans to expand his existing home into a compound were complicated by personal changes, including a custody dispute with Grimes, the mother of three of his children, who left Austin last year. Despite this, Musk continues to search for properties in Austin, reportedly making substantial offers to local homeowners and requiring them to sign nondisclosure agreements.
Musk's properties are surrounded by high security, and nearby residents have reported increased activity whenever he's in town. With 11 children from three women, Musk has been open about his desire to address declining birthrates and has even offered his sperm for in vitro fertilization to friends and acquaintances.
Meanwhile, Musk is expanding his presence in Central Texas through various ventures, including Tesla's Gigafactory Texas, which serves as a key production site for the Model Y. His Boring Company is also working on an underground transit system, while Neuralink has established offices in Austin, with SpaceX soon to follow suit.
