than Handelman Set to Lead CEDAC into a New Era of Affordable Housing

Boston - As Massachusetts doubles down on its commitment to making housing more accessible, the Community Economic Development Assistance Corporation (CEDAC) has appointed Ethan Handelman as its new executive director. Effective June 1, Handelman will succeed Roger Herzog, who is retiring after 16 years at the helm.

A seasoned expert in affordable housing and finance, Handelman brings over two decades of experience to the role. Most recently, he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Multifamily Housing Programs at HUD, overseeing a $1 billion program aimed at revitalizing communities through green retrofits.

"Massachusetts is fortunate to have CEDAC, an organization that provides critical early-stage financing support to community development corporations across the state," Handelman said. "I'm honored to lead such a remarkable team and build on Roger's legacy."

Handelman's impressive career includes senior positions at HUD, the Federal Housing Finance Agency, and Recap Real Estate Advisors. His appointment was unanimous among both the search committee and CEDAC's Board of Directors.

"CEDAC is poised for continued success under Ethan's leadership," said Ed Augustus, Secretary of Housing and Livable Communities. "His expertise will be instrumental in carrying forward our administration's commitment to affordable housing."

Roger Herzog, who has spent over 25 years at CEDAC, praised the choice: "Ethan's experience and track record assure that CEDAC will remain a vital resource for housing finance in Massachusetts."

Ethan Handelman appointed Executive Director of CEDAC, a non-profit organization in Boston.
