A
private 7.65-acre island in Connecticut's Thimble Islands is back on the market for $29.99 million, a $5 million price drop from its initial listing last May. To sweeten the deal, the sellers are including an additional seaside compound on the mainland.
Accessible only by boat, Rogers Island features a 123-year-old Tudor house, built in 1902 by a yachtsman, along with a waterfront pool, putting green, and several outbuildings. The island has been a summer retreat for its current owner, Greg Jensen, co-chief investment officer of Bridgewater Associates.
The main property includes an 8,746-square-foot Tudor house with 10 bedrooms, two kitchens, and stunning views of the Long Island Sound. Additional features include a saltwater pool with spa, poolhouse, gazebo, tennis court, and putting green.
To make the island even more appealing, the sellers have added a new mainland property at 51 Flying Point Road, which can be used as additional staff or guest housing, or provide easy access to the island for owners and guests. The listing is held by Joseph Barbieri and Leslie McElwreath of Sotheby's International Realty.
Barbieri describes Rogers Island as an "alternative to the Hamptons," noting that it's a rare find in this price range. The island has been owned by Jensen since 2018, when he purchased it for $21.5 million. With their children grown up, the family is now parting with the property and its many amenities.
