Xp Realty is shifting its focus from Virbela to FrameVR, a more accessible platform for virtual interactions. Glenn Sanford, eXp's founder, had previously praised Virbela as ideal for the company's global ambitions. However, it was quietly sold back to its founders in November 2018, with the former owners waiving $252,100 in severance payments.
This move doesn't signal an end to eXp's metaverse endeavors; rather, it marks a change in approach. FrameVR is now the brokerage's go-to platform for virtual interactions, offering a browser-based experience that eliminates the need for downloads. This makes it easier for users to engage with immersive 3D environments and collaborate on virtual meetings, events, and experiences.
FrameVR features virtual meeting rooms, an auditorium, and support staff, mirroring real-life operations. Agents can create their own virtual spaces, called "Frames," where they can invite clients to chat, share documents, and explore 3D property models together. Seth Siegler, eXp's chief innovation officer, emphasizes the platform's potential for fostering success and redefining what's possible in real estate.
