Explore a Luxury Mansion in America's Most Expensive Neighborhood

Atherton's exclusive neighborhoods offer a range of luxury living options among Silicon Valley's elite addresses.

A
therton, the most expensive ZIP code in the country, is a prime address for Silicon Valley's elite. Within this exclusive five-square-mile area, certain blocks stand out from the rest, according to Compass agent Butch Haze. He claims that 88 Tuscaloosa Avenue, his new $55 million listing, is on "Billionaire's Row" due to its large lots, famous neighbors, and low car traffic. Every house on this leafy two-block street has a gate, with several lots undergoing major renovations or complete ground-up construction.

Developer Ali Sadeghi purchased the 1.4-acre lot in 2016 for $8.1 million and built a 15,400-square-foot home with nine bedrooms and 13.5 bathrooms. Over eight years of development, many people showed interest in the spec property, which Sadeghi describes as "Northern California Modern," warmer than traditional luxury new-build construction.

The property was initially locked into a purchase agreement with Zoom CEO Eric Yuan for $37 million but was canceled after disputes over price and timeline. The developer has since gone through an arbitration process and can now deliver the title to the newly completed home "free and clear."

To market the property, Haze's team is hosting events at the home, dubbed "The Atherton," which range from intimate gatherings to larger parties. They also reached out to a tech company planning an event in San Francisco and convinced them to hold it at the home instead.

The buyer of 88 Tuscaloosa Avenue will likely be someone who values family time, entertaining, and indoor-outdoor living. The home features five kitchens, a swimming pool with a Plexiglass wall, a ProBounce tennis court, and two panic rooms designed by a security specialist who has worked for Bill Gates.

Upscale staging company Vesta Home is unveiling its new for-sale initiative at 88 Tuscaloosa Avenue, offering buyers the option to purchase fully furnished homes. Every staged room has a QR code leading to a site selling the decor, from rugs to furniture to artwork.
