Chicago real estate photographers hit disruptions as FAA imposes temporary flight restriction through Oct. 12.

C
hicago real‑estate photographers are hit by a sudden FAA temporary flight restriction that prohibits all drone operations citywide until Oct. 12. The rule, effective Oct. 1 and listed in the FAA database, cites “special security reasons” and was prompted by aircraft systems used against law enforcement during the Midway Blitz, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The ban covers both manned and unmanned aircraft, leaving photographers unable to fly drones. Crain’s Chicago Business reports the order has already stalled marketing shoots, postponing or canceling listings. The FAA map shows the restriction over downtown and surrounding suburbs.
