Three wealthy brothers were accused last month of drugging and sexually assaulting dozens of women in multiple states. New video evidence shows the "depraved" nature of their alleged crimes. Tal Alexander, 38, and Oren Alexander, 37, prominent jet-setting brokers in New York and Miami, and their brother Alon Alexander, Oren's identical twin, were arrested on Dec. 11 and taken into federal custody.
Law enforcement interviewed over 40 women who reported being forcibly raped or sexually assaulted by at least one of the brothers. The prosecution obtained a letter stating that in many instances, "one or more of the Alexander Brothers drugged their victim prior to the rape." Prosecutors argued against setting bail for the brothers, citing significant foreign connections and a risk of flight.
Judge Valerie Caproni denied bail, finding the brothers pose a flight risk and a danger to the community. Each brother has been accused by at least 10 women of forcible rape between 2002 or 2003 and 2021. Authorities seized multiple hard drives from Tal Alexander's apartment, including one with explicit videos and pictures.
The photos and videos depict Oren, Alon, and others recording or photographing themselves with intoxicated women. In some cases, the brothers and other men engaged in sexual contact with women who were visibly under the influence of alcohol or substances. Prosecutors argue that this new evidence reveals the "depraved nature" of the brothers' actions.
The Alexander brothers are charged with conspiracy to commit sex trafficking and separate counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion. They allegedly worked together to recruit women for rape and sexual assault, using pre-planned trips and events as well as opportunistic encounters. The charges span over 20 years, dating back to when the men were in high school.
Defense attorneys argue that their relationships with the alleged victims were consensual. However, Judge Caproni stated that the women in the videos appear visibly incapacitated, adding "In my view, that is rape." The brothers are still in custody and will be moved to New York next week to face trial.
