Florida real estate agent has been arrested for allegedly scamming an elderly couple out of their properties and savings. Jason Valiant, 45, is accused of exploiting the couple while they were hospitalized due to illness. He presented himself as their healthcare surrogate and obtained power of attorney using forged documents.
According to Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood, Valiant created a false Do Not Resuscitate order for one of the victims, leading to their removal from life support. After gaining control over the couple's finances, Valiant allegedly sold their properties, including a $1.6 million home and two other properties, and drained their bank accounts.
He also used the couple's credit cards to pay for personal expenses such as attorney fees, teeth whitening, car detailing, food, and gas. Chitwood described the case as "pure evil." Valiant has been charged with multiple counts including organized scheme to defraud, exploitation of an elderly or disabled adult, and illegal use of credit cards.
