F
loyd Mayweather Jr., the retired boxing champion, has been house hunting in downtown Manhattan, according to exclusive reports from Gimme Shelter. The search comes as Mayweather signed a $402 million contract to buy 1,000 units of affordable housing.
Mayweather was spotted eyeing several high-end properties, including Travis Kalanick's Soho penthouse at 565 Broome St., which is asking an astonishing $150,000 per month - the city's most expensive rental. The penthouse duplex boasts a full-floor spread with its own pool on the roof of the tallest building in the neighborhood, designed by renowned architect Renzo Piano. With three terraces, panoramic views, and 16-foot-high ceilings, this 6,655-square-foot aerie is a true luxury oasis.
Mayweather also looked at a $95,000-a-month furnished maisonette at 15 Leonard St. in Tribeca, which features four bedrooms, 7,796 square feet of living space, and 3,000 square feet of outdoor space over three terraces and courtyards. Additionally, he viewed an $80,000-a-month penthouse triplex with five bedrooms, 4,574 square feet of living space, and 1,570 square feet of outdoor space over six balconies.
Mayweather was accompanied by Serhant broker Talia McKinney and his entourage during the viewings. "He arrived with his crew in a convoy of black SUVs because that's the way he rolls," a friend revealed.
