urleson, a fast-growing suburb of Fort Worth, is poised for significant development with two major projects on the horizon. A master-planned community and a $150 million trade school are set to transform the area, bringing over 2,000 homes and a campus focused on training construction workers.
The Craftmasters school, founded by the creators of Full Sail University, will occupy 62 acres and offer courses in carpentry, HVAC installation, and masonry. With plans to enroll 5,000 students by 2031, the school aims to address the growing demand for skilled labor in the region. Next door, Chisholm Summit will become Burleson's first master-planned community, featuring 2,500 homes, 100 acres of parks, and 10 miles of trails.
The proximity between the trade school and residential development is expected to create a synergy, with students assisting with construction in Chisholm Summit. As Burleson's population grew nearly 16% from 2020 to 2023, the new housing and trade school could help meet the increasing demand for homes and skilled labor. The Associated Builders and Contractors organization estimates that 454,000 new workers will be needed in the construction industry next year.
Infrastructure work on Chisholm Summit has already begun, with construction set to start later this year and the first homes ready for occupancy by spring 2026. Craftmasters plans to build at least 100 homes in the Dallas-Fort Worth region as part of its curriculum, further addressing the need for skilled labor in the area.
