redrik Eklund, former star of Bravo TV's "Million Dollar Listing New York," has made a significant investment in Austin's luxury real estate market. He has purchased a penthouse at the Leland South Congress development for over $2 million, despite not moving in for at least three years. Eklund has been involved in the project since its inception, working closely with designer Michael Hsu to create a unique floor plan and amenities. The penthouse offers a spectacular view of the Austin skyline, with four bedrooms and a spacious terrace.
Eklund's purchase adds to his growing list of personal residences across the country, including properties in Florida, Connecticut, and New York City. He believes in the potential of Austin and has expressed confidence in the Leland South Congress project, which has already sold over half of its units at the launch party. The development will feature a range of units, from penthouses to studios, and will offer amenities such as a pool, sauna, and owner's garden at its center.
Intracorp's plan to bring retail to the project highlights the South Congress corridor as an area of prime investment potential. The area is rapidly changing, with H-E-B, a well-known retailer in Texas, rebuilding its store less than half a mile from the Leland site. The new store will be three stories tall and will include a True Texas BBQ restaurant and indoor and outdoor seating for live entertainment.
Eklund predicts continued growth in Austin's luxury market, citing a shift towards more sophisticated amenities and interior design. He believes that mid-rise buildings will become more prevalent as the city matures, and there will be an increased demand for luxury properties.
