nthony Roy Martinez, 70, from Gardena, was sentenced to more than eight years in state prison on Nov. 18 in Pasadena Superior Court for defrauding over $1 million from investors he met at real‑estate seminars. Convicted in April 2024 on 52 counts—including 16 grand thefts, 18 unqualified securities sales, and 18 false‑statement charges—Martinez targeted 22 victims between 2011 and 2016 across California and other states. He had been released on bail during the trial but has been in custody since his conviction.
