argie Doucette Marasco, a 60-year-old agent with Coldwell Banker Real Estate Group, has become an influencer sensation on TikTok and Instagram thanks to her quirky, fast-paced videos edited by her Gen Z son. The videos have garnered millions of views and boosted her social media presence to over 40,000 followers on TikTok and 112,000 on Instagram.
Marasco's approach is to create content that resonates with Gen Z slang and recent memes, often referencing "brain rot" - the kind of content associated with being constantly online. Her videos typically feature a typical suburban home or townhouse, with Marasco saying "I got a home for ya" at the start of each video in her thick Chicago accent.
The mother-and-son duo spends hours filming and editing each video, which has led to a string of viral hits over the last year. While some homeowners may not be comfortable with their homes being highlighted on social media, Marasco believes it's another way to boost listings and attract new business.
Marasco credits her son Joey for helping her achieve success and reach, saying he encouraged her to try a "bait and click" format that led to their first big hit. The pair has continued to up the ante in subsequent videos, embracing full-on productions with props, drone footage, and cinematic editing styles.
The online success has also led to referrals and new business, with Marasco's viral videos catching the attention of a broader audience beyond just Gen Zers. She is now working on her first episodes for The American Dream TV Network, which will showcase her "more serious side."
Despite the fleeting nature of social media trends, Marasco remains committed to staying current and experimenting with new content. Her advice to other agents interested in trying unconventional content? Don't be afraid to try - what's there to lose if it doesn't work, but a lot to gain if it does.
