Giuliani Cuts Price of NYC Home by Nearly $1 Million

Rudy Giuliani's Upper East Side Condo Sells Amid Time Crunch

R
udy Giuliani, former mayor of New York City, is racing against time to sell his Upper East Side condo after slashing its price by nearly $1 million. The drastic measure comes as he faces the prospect of losing his prized possessions, including his Manhattan home, due to a defamation lawsuit.

Giuliani purchased the 10th-floor co-op in 2002 for $4.8 million and has listed it multiple times with varying prices. Despite its prime location and elegant design, the property has languished on the market for over a year, now priced at $5.175 million. The price reduction is the third since Giuliani first listed the home in July 2023 for $6.5 million.

Giuliani's financial troubles began mounting after a federal judge tossed out his bankruptcy case this past July, leaving him exposed to his creditors. Ruby Freeman and Wandrea Moss, two Georgia election workers who successfully sued Giuliani for over $140 million, are seeking to claim his assets, including his New York condo valued at approximately $6 million and another in Palm Beach, Florida, worth around $3.5 million.

"A judgment debtor can only claim one homestead exemption based on that person's primary residence," said Daniel Gielchinsky, a bankruptcy attorney. "Mr. Giuliani has to make a choice between selling one property and keeping the other."

Freeman and Moss were awarded millions in damages for emotional distress after Giuliani accused them of tampering with ballots during the 2020 election. If the home doesn't sell fast, it could become part of the assets seized after a judge rules on October 8.

The condo boasts three bedrooms and three bathrooms, as well as a wood-paneled library, a wood-burning fireplace, views of Central Park, and a semi-private elevator landing. However, even with its high ceilings and original architectural details, the long-unsold home reflects Giuliani's financial and legal difficulties.
