L Homes is facing allegations of subpar construction on common areas at Boca Bridges, a 504-unit single-family home development in Boca Raton. The homeowners association filed an amended complaint against GL Homes and project architect Kamm Consulting, citing defects in roofing, stucco, plumbing, and flooring. According to the lawsuit, these issues were discovered after GL Homes transferred ownership of the community to the HOA in 2022.
GL Homes maintains that the lawsuit was filed solely to comply with a new state law shortening the statute of limitations for construction defect claims. A spokesperson stated that the company is working with the HOA to resolve the issues without prolonged litigation, and expects all problems to be resolved soon. The Boca Bridges community features modern homes priced from around $3 million.
The HOA hired an engineering firm to investigate the defects, which produced a detailed report highlighting various construction flaws. GL Homes has built over 10,000 homes in Palm Beach County since its founding in 1974 and recently acquired 225 homesites in Avenir for $23.5 million.
