Hamptons $85M "Whisper" Listing Revives Luxury Spotlight

The Sagaponack property at 635 Daniels Lane went from off-market to public listing in 2025.

A
Hamptons estate once rumored to be worth $150 million is back in the spotlight with a new listing price of $85 million. The property, located at 635 Daniels Lane in Sagaponack, was previously listed as an "whisper" listing last year and has since been officially priced for sale.

The seller is a trust linked to Barton "Mark" Perlbinder, a member of a wealthy real estate family. According to Corcoran's Tim Davis, the property showcases stunning ocean views and chic details throughout its 10 bedrooms, 12 baths, and two powder rooms.

Davis notes that the market is currently active with limited inventory and buyers ready to spend, citing recent deals in the area. The Perlbinder brothers have been involved in a long-standing feud over their family fortune, but there is no dispute over this estate's ownership.

The property was built in 1968 by John Saladino and later reimagined in 2005 by Peter Marino, who added 10,000 square feet to the original design. The steel, brick, and concrete home spans approximately 13,690 square feet and features floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ocean.

The estate sits on 5.18 acres of prime oceanfront land, bordering a preserved Peconic Land Trust area. Inside, the two-story home boasts an open layout ideal for entertaining, with design details including four fireplaces, exposed brick, beamed ceilings, and custom millwork.

Outside, the landscaped grounds feature an infinity-edged pool, tennis court, and greenhouse. Due diligence has revealed that redevelopment of the site is now possible, with a considerable building envelope of nearly an acre and a half available for redeveloping if desired.

Multi-million dollar Hamptons estate 'Whisper' listing garners luxury spotlight attention.
