n the Hamptons' high-stakes real estate market, 2024 saw a flurry of record-breaking sales. According to Suffolk Vision Inc., the top transactions included an auction, a Community Preservation Fund purchase, and a vice presidential retreat.
At the pinnacle of luxury was Christopher Whittle's former estate at 90 South Briar Patch Road in East Hampton. The sprawling property, which boasts a 7.5-acre lot and a circa 1931 Colonial Revival home renovated by Peter Marino, sold for $64.67 million to Briar Patch 2023 LLC. This sale eclipses the original asking price of $140 million set back in 2014, cementing its status as one of the most ambitious asks in Hamptons history.
In a rare instance of unconventional sales, the East Hampton Town Community Preservation Fund acquired 66 Wainscott Main Street for $56 million.
