hestnut Hill Realty will unveil the Franklin Building this Wednesday, marking the completion of a multi-year transformation of Brookline's Hancock Village into a thriving 1,300-unit residential community. The ribbon-cutting ceremony at 201 Sherman Road on May 21 at 4:00 PM will celebrate the opening of the Franklin, a new 250-unit apartment building that brings Hancock Village's population to over 3,000 residents.
The eight-story Franklin features 20% Affordable units and significantly increases housing availability in the Greater Boston area. As part of the Residences of South Brookline (ROSB) project, developed under Chapter 40B statute, the building addresses the region's ongoing affordable housing shortage.
Speakers at the event will include Chestnut Hill Realty Founder and CEO Ed Zuker, Brookline Select Board Chair Bernard Greene, and MassDevelopment President and CEO Navjeet Bal. The celebration will feature Founding Father impersonators, music, family-friendly activities, and a photo opportunity with a building tour. As part of the festivities, Chestnut Hill Realty will present a $10,000 donation to Brookline's Baker School Parent Teacher Organization.
The Franklin is the final phase of Hancock Village's modernization and expansion plan, following recent additions including the Adams Building, Bartlett Building, and 48 new townhomes that contributed 91 Affordable units to Brookline's housing stock.
