ver the past eight months, Re/Max has expanded its nationwide presence by onboarding several new brokerage offices across multiple states. In Hawaii, a seasoned real estate owner with over three decades of experience has joined the Re/Max system. Myron Kiriu, who has called Hawaii home for more than 40 years, has built a successful real estate career spanning back to the 1980s.
Kiriu's journey in real estate began after graduating from the University of California, Berkeley, with a degree in accounting and finance. He initially worked as a certified public accountant (CPA) in San Francisco before relocating to Hawaii in 1984. Kiriu then transitioned into real estate, becoming an agent with Century 21 in 1989. He quickly rose through the ranks, earning top agent status from 1991 to 1993.
Kiriu later joined Locations, a Hawaii-based company that became a Prudential Real Estate franchisee. In 2003, he took on his own partnership with Prudential and expanded the business to about 50 agents. However, when Prudential was acquired by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices in 2012, Kiriu decided to switch to Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate.
After nearly a decade with Better Homes and Gardens, Kiriu began exploring other franchise options due to changes in his agreement. He ultimately chose Re/Max for its global reach, which aligns with the diversity of his clients from around the world. With Re/Max's worldwide presence, Kiriu aims to build relationships through the network across different countries, creating referral opportunities for his agents.
Kiriu's company, now known as Re/Max Hawaii, brings six offices and 170 agents under its umbrella. The conversion took place on August 1. Chris Lim, Re/Max's chief growth officer, sees the addition as a strategic move to expand the brand's presence in a dynamic state like Hawaii.
Re/Max has been actively expanding its domestic development since the start of 2025, with several firms joining from states including New Jersey, Colorado, California, and Washington. The brand continues to build its international presence, with new offices opening in Bahrain and Cote d'Ivoire. Founded in 1973, Re/Max now operates in 110 countries and territories, with nearly 9,000 offices and over 145,000 agents worldwide.
