GTV viewers are expressing their disappointment and confusion after the network cancelled Bargain Block and Married to Real Estate. Fans took to the HGTV Reddit forum to share their reactions, with many saying they "don't understand the direction that HGTV is taking." Some users felt that the cancellations were a sign of the network's shift away from diversity and towards more mainstream programming.
"I guess it's finally time to stop watching HGTV," wrote one user. "They have gotten rid of all my favorite shows... now this." Another fan suggested that the network was getting rid of diverse voices, saying "Seems like they're getting rid of diversity. Think of the shows that are left. They're almost exclusively white, straight, wealthy, and vaguely religious."
Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson, stars of Married to Real Estate, described the situation as "disheartening" and "TV is full of a lot of great people, but it's also full of some of the worst people I've ever encountered." Fellow HGTV star Ty Pennington was shocked by the news, saying he had no idea what TV executives wanted anymore.
Despite the disappointment, Sherrod seems to be taking the cancelation in stride, writing "Sometimes GOD will rip you out of a situation to set you up for your next!" on her Instagram post. Fans are now speculating about the future of HGTV and whether they'll miss Bargain Block and Married to Real Estate.
