n a bold move to cement its position as a global infrastructure and real estate powerhouse, Hong Kong's trade delegation descended upon Bangkok, Thailand, armed with expertise and investment prospects. Led by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the 21-member team converged on the Thai capital from March 10 to 13, seeking to forge business collaborations in the rapidly evolving IRES sector.
Thailand's infrastructure landscape is undergoing a transformative shift, driven by significant government investments in transportation networks, urban expansion, and sustainable development projects. The Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) and public transport system expansions are creating new opportunities for businesses in the IRES sector. Key players such as Amata Corporation, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, and BTS Group were among those engaged with by the delegation.
The HKTDC-led team was co-chaired by Mr. Stephen Liang and Ir Dr. Hon Lo Wai-kwok, who connected with influential organizations like Frasers Property (Thailand) Public Company and Thai-Hong Kong Trade Association. These interactions provided a platform to explore potential collaborations and investment prospects in Thailand's booming real estate and infrastructure markets.
A highlight of the visit was a networking luncheon hosted by the HKTDC, where participants gained insights into Hong Kong's IRES expertise and its role in supporting Thailand's infrastructure development. This was followed by a business matching session, enabling Hong Kong delegates to engage in one-on-one discussions with Thai companies on topics such as smart city initiatives, sustainable urban development, infrastructure financing, and public transportation projects.
Hong Kong's reputation as a financial powerhouse is matched only by its expertise in architectural design, engineering, surveying, and consultancy. Its strong international talent pool makes it an attractive partner for Thai enterprises seeking to accelerate their infrastructure and urban development plans. The delegation visited two landmark infrastructure projects – Thailand Digital Valley and One Bangkok – showcasing the city's commitment to innovation and sustainable growth.
The HKTDC frequently organizes business delegations across multiple industries, including IRES, to facilitate international partnerships. This mission is part of a broader strategy to foster global business collaborations and highlight Hong Kong's role as a key player in the IRES sector.
