A
company tied to D.R. Horton's founder has purchased 5 acres near the Waterside shopping center with plans for an office building. The land was bought from Trademark Property Company, which developed the adjacent 63-acre retail center at 3700 Vision Drive. HFO Waterside, a subsidiary of Douglas Reagan Horton, son of Donald R. Horton, acquired the property. The elder Horton passed away in May.
The site is near the Shops at Clearfork and Fort Worth's Trinity Trails, which recently expanded to connect with the Waterside development. Jordan Johnson of LanCarte Commercial represented HFO Waterside and expects the land to become an "iconic family office building." However, the project may face challenges due to easements on the property and setbacks from the Trinity River levee.
The buyer plans to occupy part of the building themselves, with other tenants also expected. This development is one of several office projects in the works for DFW, including a 50,000-square-foot building planned by Simon Property Group near the Shops at Clearfork.
