ake Gyllenhaal has closed the book on his Tribeca home, selling the former book-binding factory condo for $14 million. The off-market sale was first reported by The Real Deal.
Gyllenhaal's 2,868-square-foot, fifth-floor unit boasted a large entry foyer, three bedrooms, and a chef's kitchen. He purchased it in 2017 for $8.6 million. Another apartment on the same floor is currently under contract with an asking price of $13.3 million.
The building, which dates back to 1882, has been home to A-listers like Jennifer Lawrence, Justin Timberlake, and Harry Styles. Microsoft heiress Jennifer Gates owns the penthouse, which she bought from Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton for $51 million in 2023.
The condos retain original details such as wooden beams and antique bronze doors. Amenities include entry foyers with custom metal wall panels and 8-inch-wide white oak floors.
However, the building's condo board is embroiled in a lawsuit against developer Nate Berman's Metro Loft and architect CetraRuddy, alleging breach of contract, construction defects, and code violations. The case, filed in 2021, remains ongoing despite Metro Loft and CetraRuddy's denials.
