Jamestown building that now serves as a code blue shelter was recently purchased by RTC Home Enterprises, LLC of Frewsburg from C&B Realty, LLC of Erie, Pa. for $120,000. The property, located at 917 Washington St., was previously the site of The Johanson Agency before it merged with J. Edwards Insurance Agency in 2018.
The building has been converted into a shelter that provides temporary housing to single men and women who do not qualify for county assistance, as well as homeless individuals when temperatures drop below 32 degrees Fahrenheit. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the location in October by Recovery Options.
According to recent real estate sales data from The Post-Journal and OBSERVER, there were 78 transactions in Chautauqua County between September 25-30. Ten of these sales exceeded $250,000, including a sale on 25 Ames Ave., Chautauqua Institution for $706,500.
