T
he Jefferson City Council convened Monday night, where heated discussions took place between several council members regarding two bills that would authorize a real estate agreement involving city-owned property.
Council members proposed a bill to collaborate with PG & Company LC'S LLCs for the redevelopment of properties at 405 and 407 E. Capitol Avenue and 109 and 111 Adam Street. Ward 5 Councilman Mark Schwartz urged his colleagues to expedite the process by voting on the bill, but Ward 5 Councilwoman Mackenzie Job and Ward 2 Councilman Mike Lester expressed concerns about not having sufficient time to review project renderings and public feedback.
Job emphasized that giving the public more time for input was essential, especially considering other contractors had undergone a similar process. Schwartz countered that the project meets city requirements and argued that delaying the vote would only waste the contractor's time. The council ultimately decided against taking action on either bill, leaving them to remain on the informal calendar.
