im Hughes Real Estate is expanding its presence in Shenandoah with a new location on the site of the former Dairy Queen along Highway 59. Building permits were submitted to the city earlier this week, and construction plans are moving forward. The current office shares space with United Group Insurance on West Sheridan Avenue, but Hughes feels it's time for a dedicated building.
"We've had a good partnership with United Group, but we wanted to take advantage of an opportunity to purchase the property at 403 South Fremont Street," said Hughes. "We'll have a modern facility with office spaces and conference rooms." His son's construction company will oversee the project.
The new location is expected to serve as a hub for Jim Hughes Real Estate's services in Southwest Iowa, including acreage sales, farm auctions, and construction projects. The building will be 32 by 106 feet and feature a prominent sign on Highway 59. Construction is hoped to begin soon, with agents moving into the new facility by Christmas.
