LA Real Estate Firm Acquires Proptech Startup Particle Space

Particle Space's acquisition allows founder David Biga to pivot back to his original entrepreneurial vision.

avid Biga, founder of Kansas City proptech startup Particle Space, is now poised to pivot back to his entrepreneurial roadmap after the company's acquisition by Curb Hero, a Los Angeles-based real estate marketing software firm. The deal, announced Wednesday, brings Biga's technology into Curb Hero's core system, where it will help tens of thousands of real estate agents support their marketing efforts.

Biga plans to focus on "build, give back" initiatives in Kansas City, a city he returned to after splitting time between there and Japan. He founded Particle Space in 2015, initially working with companies like Hallmark, Google, and H&R Block before launching his own startup. The proptech solution gained attention from local partners, funding programs, and far-flung accelerators.

Particle Space supported hundreds of thousands of API requests a month, with over 300 technology companies leveraging its platform for their products. Curb Hero was the startup's main customer, providing valuable feedback that helped improve the platform. The acquisition came amid Particle Space's struggle to gain traction in a drying proptech market due to economic downturns.

Biga credits regional entrepreneur support groups, including Omaha-based NMotion and the Midwest entrepreneurial network Pipeline, for helping him prepare for the decision to exit. These organizations provided guidance on product vision, validation, and go-to-market plans, as well as mentorship and hands-on support that allowed Biga to think outside the box and pivot when needed.

The acquisition marks a successful outcome for Particle Space, which had been working with Curb Hero for some time. "Building relationships and leaning on our customers was really what gave us the ability to move forward," Biga said. With his technology now integrated into Curb Hero's system, Biga is ready to take his next career steps, reflecting on the lessons learned from his entrepreneurial journey.
