M
urray H. Goodman, a renowned real estate developer and Lehigh University alumnus, has passed away at the age of 99. A 1948 graduate with a degree in business administration, Goodman's career spanned nearly seven decades.
Before establishing M.H. Goodman & Company in 1960, he worked in general contracting. The company went on to become a leading real estate development firm, founded in Allentown and later headquartered in West Palm Beach, Florida. Under Goodman's ownership for almost 75 years, the firm developed over 25 million square feet of commercial space, including regional malls, industrial buildings, and retail centers across several states.
Goodman is credited with pioneering the "super-regional mall" concept, a key player in America's suburban development boom during the 1950s and '60s. His legacy extends to Lehigh University, where he served as a trustee and benefactor of various projects, including Goodman Campus, Goodman Stadium, and the Goodman Center of Real Estate.
