ennar has acquired 172 homesites in a planned mixed-use project in Wellington for $54 million, marking its continued investment in residential development. The Miami-based homebuilder purchased nearly 52 acres west of U.S. 441 and south of Old Hammock Way from an affiliate of Boca Raton's Lotis Group. The property will be developed as the second phase of the Lotis Wellington project, featuring 100 single-family homes and 72 townhouses.
The site has approval for various amenities, including an 18,000-square-foot day care, offices, and a mini-golf facility. Lotis Group is developing the first phase with a garden-style complex, medical offices, and commercial space. The company secured a $44 million loan in March to prepare the site and infrastructure.
Wellington has seen limited development compared to other parts of South Florida, but projects like Wellington North and Wellington South are underway. Mark Bellissimo's Wellington Equestrian Partners and Nexus Luxury Collection are developing these projects, which include luxury villas, farms, and golf facilities.
Lennar has been actively expanding its presence in South Florida, with recent developments including the Greenview at Presidential Estates complex in Aventura and a 75-acre site in Parkland approved for 205 single-family homes.
