iam Payne, a former member of the British boy band One Direction, has died after falling from a third-floor balcony in Buenos Aires. The 31-year-old leaves behind a significant fortune and his only child, Bear Gray Payne.
According to local police reports, Payne's death occurred at a hotel on Costa Rica Street in Palermo, Buenos Aires. He amassed a net worth of over AU$109m through his musical career, tours, and property portfolio, which included homes in Malibu and Surrey, England.
Payne rose to fame as part of One Direction on the UK reality show The X Factor in 2010. After the band's hiatus in 2015, he pursued a solo career, releasing his debut album "LP1" in 2019.
Some notable properties that made up part of Payne's fortune include:
* A Monte Nido mansion in Malibu, which was sold to pop star Halsey for $A13.1m after being listed for several years.
* A Surrey home, valued at AU$12.3m, featuring a Georgian-style exterior and modern interior design.
Payne shared his son with former Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole, who had previously reported paranormal experiences in the Monte Nido mansion. The property was said to have eerie occurrences such as flickering lights and randomly running taps.
