ogos Faith Development, a Westchester-based developer of church properties, is planning a 62-unit affordable housing complex in South Los Angeles. The four-story building will be constructed at 706 West 85th Street, on land owned by St. Rest Friendship Church. Led by Rev. Martin Porter, Logos Faith aims to repurpose underutilized church land for housing in underserved areas.
The project will employ L.A. Mayor Karen Bass' Executive Directive 1, which streamlines approval for shelters and affordable housing projects. The complex will feature one- and two-bedroom apartments above a ground-floor parking garage, with all units reserved for low- to moderate-income households except for the manager's unit. Density bonus incentives are also available due to state Senate Bill 4.
Designed by Culver City-based JZA Architecture, the building will have broad windows facing the street. The project is located near another affordable housing complex, Domus Ambrosia, which is currently under construction at 800 West 85th Street. Logos Faith Development has over 1,000 units in its development pipeline and aims to provide more affordable housing options in South Los Angeles.
