L
os Angeles Apparel, founded by Dov Charney, is set to open its first New York store at 480 Broadway in Soho. The 24,687 square-foot space was previously occupied by TopShop and is located in the heart of Soho's thriving retail scene.
Charney's company manufactures all its products in a south-central LA factory, adhering to an "ethically driven" approach. KPG Funds' Greg Kraut, co-founder and CEO, views this lease as a vote of confidence in New York City's retail market and a way to support mission-driven brands that contribute to the city's cultural and economic fabric.
The repositioned 480 Broadway building now offers nearly 100,000 square feet of boutique office and retail space. Meanwhile, nearby at 1251 Sixth Avenue, Mitsui Fudosan America and Hines are working to fill a large retail void left by Chase's departure last year. However, the opening of Double Knot, a Japanese restaurant launched by chef Michael Schulson in Philadelphia, is expected to be a hit when it debuts on the tower's ground floor later this year.
