Maine Estate near Bush Compound Sells for $12M in Record 90 Minutes

Kennebunkport residence sees intense demand, broker tells The Post.

A
Kennebunkport, Maine home with breathtaking ocean views sold for $12 million in a record-breaking 90 minutes on the market. This sale marks the highest price ever recorded in York County and one of the fastest and most expensive home sales in Maine history.

The five-bedroom, three-bath estate at 267 Ocean Ave. sits 20 feet above the ocean, offering 200 feet of private coastline and a direct view of the Bush family's Walker's Point compound. The property occupies over 5,000 square feet and boasts an open floor plan, well-lit kitchen, and modern design.

Broker Bill Gaynor of Legacy Properties Sotheby's International Realty said demand for the home was intense, with a Chicago-based industrialist signing the contract without even stepping inside. They wouldn't tour the property in person until two weeks later, driven by the fear that someone else would snatch it up.

The sale highlights Maine's growing luxury market, which Gaynor believes offers better value than other elite Northeast destinations like Nantucket and the Hamptons. "Maine is still significantly undervalued," he said, adding that this home could have sold for twice as much in those areas.

The property's rare combination of a high-elevation waterfront location, modern design, and historic charm made it a standout. Gaynor described it as having "a really punch-in-the-mouth view."
