P
atrick Kane, a former Chicago Blackhawks star now playing for the Detroit Red Wings, sold his 4-bedroom, 4,776-square-foot condominium on the 25th floor of the luxury tower at 9 W. Walton Street in June for $6.4 million in an off-market transaction.
Kane spent 16 years with the Blackhawks, leading the team to three Stanley Cup finals victories and earning nine NHL All-Star Game selections as a right winger. He has owned several properties in Chicago and on the North Shore over the years.
The condo, which Kane purchased for $6.4625 million in 2019, had 4-1/2 bathrooms, a fireplace, and hardwood floors. However, he took a loss on the sale, selling it for 1% less than his original purchase price due to the softness of the downtown condo market.
The buyer is an opaque land trust with Jeffrey Zaluda as its trustee. Kane continues to own at least two other Chicago-area properties, including a unit in the Trump International Hotel & Tower and a Greek Revival-style house in Lake Forest.
Kane's former teammate, Jonathan Toews, sold his 29th-floor unit in the building at 9 W. Walton for $6.95 million in 2019, while former Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine has his three-bedroom condo on the 28th floor listed for sale at $6.9 million.
