Manalapan Estate Sold for $16 Million Amid Luxury Market Surge

Luxury real estate sales surge in Manalapan with oil heiress Jean Christine Thompson selling oceanfront estate for $15.6 million.

O
il heiress Jean Christine Thompson has sold her oceanfront estate in Manalapan for $15.6 million, marking a significant sale in the luxury enclave. The mansion at 3090 South Ocean Boulevard was purchased by entrepreneur Anthony Marlowe through One Sotheby's International Realty agents Madison Collum and Sandra Tagliamonte, who represented both parties in the deal.

Marlowe is CEO of Miami-based MCI, a holding company with various information technology, marketing, and software firms. Thompson, daughter of late Texas oil magnate James Cleo Thompson Jr., has been described as a "health nut with a passion for real estate" and the head of a billion-dollar family office and property portfolio.

Thompson previously rented out the mansion as a vacation rental after buying it in 2017 for $11.5 million. The 8,500-square-foot mansion features six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and one half-bathroom, spanning 150 feet of oceanfront and 150 feet of the Intracoastal Waterway.

Thompson initially listed the property for $28.5 million in 2023 but dropped the price three times before selling it for $15.6 million this month, resulting in a $12.9 million price reduction. The sale comes as luxury activity picks up in Manalapan, which is gaining attention from high-end buyers seeking sprawling ocean-to-lake estates.

The town's appeal lies in its alternative to Palm Beach, offering more value for the price, according to Collum. Ellison's recent purchases, including a $277.4 million deal for the Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa, have contributed to Manalapan's growing hype. Despite a pre-election slowdown in sales, the latest deal demonstrates that luxury buyers remain active in the area.
