T
he Greenwich, a 88-story luxury tower in Downtown Manhattan, is making waves with its record-breaking private pool perched over 800 feet above ground. Located at 125 Greenwich St. in the Financial District, this opulent oasis is part of "The 88," a three-floor amenities suite that's now the tallest of its kind in New York City.
The centerpiece is a stunning 50-foot indoor saltwater lap pool on the 87th floor, offering breathtaking views of iconic landmarks like the Empire State Building and One World Trade. The space feels like a five-star resort, with plush chaise lounges and daybeds lining the massive view corridor through floor-to-ceiling exposures.
The amenity space, designed by MAWD and furnished with top-tier luxury brands, spans the top three floors of the tower. Level 86 features a private screening room, a dining room with harbor views, and a resident lounge for socializing. Level 87 is a wellness retreat with sauna and steam rooms, private spa treatment suites, and a high-end salon. Level 88 is a fitness mecca with a gym, weight room, yoga and Pilates studios outfitted by Technogym.
The development was briefly stalled due to a fire on the roof in March 2024, but it's now complete as one of the last major projects by late architect Rafael Viñoly. His soaring designs, including 432 Park Ave., are renowned for their elegance and grandeur. The Greenwich stands at an impressive 912 feet, making it his final legacy following his passing on March 2, 2023.
