assHousing has awarded $185,000 in grants to four nonprofit organizations that support individuals and families affected by substance use disorder. The funding comes from the Center for Community Recovery Innovations (CCRI), a MassHousing subsidiary that helps create or preserve affordable sober housing across Massachusetts.
Since its inception, CCRI has provided over $16.3 million in grants for more than 3,000 units of substance-free housing in 55 communities, serving diverse populations including men, women, families, veterans, and the LGBTQ+ community. MassHousing CEO Chrystal Kornegay praised these organizations for their mission-based work, providing quality housing and supportive services to vulnerable residents.
The CCRI grants will be allocated as follows:
* EMH Recovery in Brockton will receive $20,000 to expand counseling and supportive services for women residing in its sober homes.
* Housing Support Inc. in Amesbury will receive $35,000 to enhance supportive services at the Bartlett House.
* NeighborWorks Housing Solutions in Hanson will use $100,000 to finance critical repairs on eight units of affordable sober housing.
* Recovered Souls Foundation in Quincy will receive $30,000 to support access to a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors (LADC) Assistant Counselor Licensing Requirement Program. This program aims to prepare individuals for careers in the recovery field by providing academic courses and licensing requirements, ultimately connecting them with employment opportunities and helping them sustain their recovery.
