el Foster Co. celebrated a year of resilience and dedication from its agents, despite the challenges posed by elevated interest rates in 2024. At their annual awards breakfast on February 4th, company leaders recognized 78 agents for their commitment to collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
Geri Doyle took home top honors as both Top Residential Iowa Sales Agent and Top Agent in the Company, while Dee Shepherd was named Top Residential Illinois Sales Agent. Other standout performers included Jennifer Evans from Galesburg, Becky Blackert from Geneseo, Debbie Wright from Kewanee, and Paula Nabb from Moline/Aledo.
The company's Rookie of the Year awards went to Kevin Kilstrom and Sarah Pinon, who demonstrated exceptional promise in their first year as agents. Six Mel Foster Co. agents were also recognized on the prestigious Real Trends Verified Premier List, which acknowledges the top 1.5% of real estate professionals nationwide.
Despite market conditions that made it difficult for many agents to increase sales volume, 41% of Mel Foster Co.'s agents managed to boost their sales by 20% or more in 2024. The company's average sales price rose 3.28% from the previous year, reaching $232,195. Agents also closed an average of 11 transactions per agent, outpacing the national average.
Mel Foster Co.'s commitment to diversification has been a key factor in its success, with the company expanding into land development and new construction sales. In 2024, they sold 27 residential lots across three subdivisions and 65 new construction homes or condos, with an average sales price of $507,547.
To support agent success, Mel Foster Co. hired a dedicated talent acquisition and agent development director and launched the Mel Foster Co. School of Real Estate, which provides comprehensive education and training for aspiring real estate professionals. The company also delivered numerous in-person training sessions, webinars, and events to help agents stay up-to-date with industry developments.
Throughout its 100-year history, Mel Foster Co. has prioritized community service, supporting local businesses and initiatives through its Think.Buy.Be.Local campaign. In 2024, the company actively supported over 150 local businesses during Small Business Week and participated in various charitable efforts, including a food drive, school supply drive, blood drive, and toy collection.
