South Florida boater accused of causing a deadly accident appeared in court on Thursday. George Pino, a Doral real estate broker, pleaded not guilty to vessel homicide charges. Bodycam footage from the incident shows Pino telling officers he had consumed two beers and refused a blood alcohol test.
Pino is accused of operating a boat carrying 12 teenage girls and his wife when it crashed into a channel marker in Biscayne Bay on Labor Day weekend in 2022. The crash resulted in the death of 17-year-old Lucy Fernandez and left 19-year-old Katerina Puig permanently disabled.
If convicted, Pino faces up to 15 years in prison.
