Miami Real Estate Brothers Face Sex Trafficking Charges in Court Hearing

Miami real estate twins face sex charges in status hearing

T
wo Miami-based real estate twins, Alon and Oren Alexander, are set to make their first federal court appearance after facing multiple sex-related charges in both state and federal cases. Their older brother, Tal Alexander, is also implicated in the federal case and remains in custody after a judge denied his bond last week.

The twins were previously granted bail for the state charges they're facing, with a combined $5 million collateral and individual bonds of $25,000 each. However, they are now being held in federal custody and will appear before a federal judge later this week.

A friend of the Alexanders, Ohad Fisherman, turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday after being accused of helping the twins sexually assault a woman in 2016. He paid his $25,000 bond and has $260,000 in collateral, but remains in custody until he can be fitted with an ankle monitor.

Fisherman's lawyer is confident that he will be released soon, saying "Let it play out and we're going to have a hearing. And yes we are confident. And they ought to be as well." The Alexanders' attorney also expressed hope for their release, stating that the case would "play out" in court.

The twins' bond hearing was held Thursday morning, but they did not appear due to being transferred into federal custody. A status hearing is scheduled for later this week, and it remains unclear what the outcome will be.
